Who was Joyce Ann Daniel?
Joyce Ann Daniel was a woman of great integrity that was taken from this earth much too soon. She had a warm, embracing spirit and her smile brightened every room she entered. She was a wonderful mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, and friend, and she touched all of whom she encountered.
Joyce graduated from high school at the age of seventeen...and six months pregnant. However, she did not allow being an unmarried, teenage mother to define her. She became employed at the age of 21 and worked for Workforce Development (through several name changes) for 29 years.
Education was very important to her. This scholarship was created in her honor and memory to help inspire and empower young mothers to pursue their goals and dreams no matter the obstacles.
In February of 2018, Joyce's youngest daughter, Kaleah was killed. It was her dream to become a chef. In her honor, a scholarship was added for African American students, ages 17-30, that want to pursue culinary arts.
Mission
To empower and inspire young African American mothers to pursue and accomplish their goals, live their dreams, and conquer all obstacles that stand in their way.
